Hi! I’m Dr. Shelly. I’m a Doctor of Oriental Medicine, Qi Expert, Whole Food Nutrition Junkie & Spreader of Good Vibes. I’m a forever student who never stops learning because I crave it. So, I’m here to drop what I know & gems that I learn along the way through books, patients and life  to hopefully improve your health & happiness. My ultimate mission is to help you to finally get healthy, despite your real life distractions, and struggles.

Now, technically speaking, I’m a Doctor of Oriental Medicine, Licensed  Acupuncturist, and  Certified Nutrition Consultant. I’ve been in this Holistic Health Biz for more than 25 years, yes I’m THAT old! BUT… I probably started out much like you. I grew up on Coca Cola, Milky Ways, Hamburger Helper, Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, and Oscar Meyer. Sound Familiar? Keep Reading.

What I’ve learned over the years is that what we eat and how we move makes the greatest impact on our overall health. I can give you custom herbal formulas, I can give you acupuncture to help relieve the symptoms from pain, to gastrointestinal nightmares, to diabetes and other chronic diseases. But, to truly resolve these issues at the root, at the core, you have to address what you eat & how you move. Period.

Now, let me be real here. I haven’t been like this my whole life. Like I said before, I grew up a junk food junkie. Possibly, just possibly, this is why I was sick my entire early life!

Yes, I grew up with asthma, allergies, bronchitis, and pneumonia. I had at least one of these every day of my life until high school. I lived on antibiotics. I had the allergy shots. I was on oxygen in the hospital. Check, Check & Check. What I’m saying is I’ve been there! I’ve been there and I’ve made it to the other side. Now I want to help you get there too!

I’m a stubborn person who likes what she likes and doesn’t like change! Yes, there are a million books (really good books!) out there that tell you how to get healthy, how to lose weight, how to get off your meds, etc. But, from personal experience, I’ve found people don’t do well with sudden radical change. It’s too upsetting, too hard, too overwhelming, and our deep down genetically driven need to avoid change kicks in and we quit…a failure. Been there done that. So, I’m a big advocate of “Transitions to Health.” It’s the only way I’ve found that people can make gradual positive changes to their lives without the psychological backlash. Gradual change over time is a lifestyle change that sticks and so does improved health.

My blog focuses on small changes that you can make gradually. Stick with me and you’ll get there. I cover everything from food, to movement and mobility to detoxing your house, and your personal care products. So, come on this journey with me and finally get health that lasts, a lifetime.
